Heping Gymnasium sells out all tickets for Chinese Taipei-Australia Asian Qualifiers tiff

TAIPEI (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - The Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium will be rocking and rolling when Australia play home team Chinese Taipei on 24 November.

All 5,000-plus seats at the Heping Gymnasium, which has an area of over 35,000 square metres and was used in the recent Taipei 2017 Universiade this past August, have sold out for the first Asian Qualifiers tiff between the Boomers and the Taipei quintet.

"There’s excitement in Taipei regarding our upcoming home game against Australia," said Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA) Secretary General Li I-Chung. "We’re very pleased to see that our fans are going to show up in numbers to support the national team."

After playing Australia, Chinese Taipei will travel to Manila and collide with the Philippines on 27 November, while the Aussies will host the Japanese at the Titanium Arena in Adelaide.

"I have been an active cheerleader of the new FIBA qualification system, and it is great that home supporters of all national teams are now able to see their country in action more often," said Basketball Australia CEO Anthony Moore. "I expect that Adelaide fans will fill Titanium Security Arena when the Boomers arrive two days later on November 27, and we want to make our home court a fortress for visiting teams."
