Returning Alex Garcia highlights Brazil's roster for pivotal Virgin Islands and Dominican Republic games

SAO PAULO (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers) – Aleksandar Petrovic, Head Coach of the Brazilian National Team, announced today the 12-players that will search for the coveted FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 ticket.

The Brazilians need a victory on the road against the Virgin Islands on February 21 or the Dominican Republic on February 24 during the last window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers.

"For then last window of the Qualifiers we will have the returns of a player who has recovered from an injury, in Alex Garcia , in addition to the presence of Alexey Borges, who has had good games and I would like to see him alongside Rafael Luz and Yago Matheus in the environment of the Brazilian National Team," said Petrović in the Brazilian Basketball Confederation Press Release.

"It will be decisive games and we need a win to reach the FIBA Basketball World Cup, so we have to do everything, especially in the first game against the Virgin Islands. From the little I saw, it is an opponent who plays physically strong and this can complicate us, so we need to impose our pace, with speed and certainly we will qualify already in that first commitment," commented the experienced Alex Garcia.

"Being able to return to the Brazilian team after a period of injuries, being out of some stages, makes me very happy; I have to follow up the work, which started in the first round against Chile and Venezuela, when we got two victories, and now I hope two more positive results will come. I am very happy and, even though I am still not in the ideal rhythm, I feel very confident, I have worked hard, and I will continue to prepare well to be able to help", added the players of Sendi / Bauru Basket.

Brazil will travel to St. Thomas to face the Virgin Islands on February 21 and will then move to Santo Domingo to face the Dominican Republic at the Palacio de los Deportes.
