SANTO DOMINGO (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers) - The Dominican Basketball Federation (FEDOMAL) announced the senior men's national team roster for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers at a press conference on Wednesday.

Last November, the Dominican team opened their qualifying campaign with important double-digit victories against Virgin Islands (99-89) and Canada (88-76) for a 2-0 record.

The teamwork was essential and counted with six double-figure scorers, headed by Rigoberto Mendoza, who averaged 17 points per encounter. Of those scorers, they will also bring Sadiel Rojas once again, who averaged 13.5; Ronald Ramón and Eloy Vargas, who averaged 12 points; and Víctor Liz, with 11 per game.

"In the November window we displayed a great performance in the court and we were able to connect quickly," recalled Dominican national team coach Melvyn López. "For this new window, we've tried to give continuity to that work and, for that reason, the selected group is practically the same. We made some changes, but we've maintained the team's core."

The Dominican Republic are facing important games against Bahamas on February 22 and Virgin Islands three days later as they aim to maintain their to spot in Group D.

"In the games against Bahamas and Virgin Islands, we need a lot of concentration, team work and to execute our plan," López concluded.
