Casiano cuts Puerto Rico’s preliminary list to 14 players

SAN JUAN (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) – Head Coach Eddie Casiano announced Puerto Rico’s new 14-player preliminary list for the first window of Americas Qualifiers to the FIBA Basketball World Cup, where the Boricuas will face USA and Cuba.

On the preliminary list are eight of the 12 players from the FIBA AmeriCup 2017, including Mike Rosario who averaged 11.7 points during the continental championship.

National Team veterans Ramon Clemente, Guillermo Diaz, David Huertas, Angel Vassallo and Ricardo Sanchez are included on the preliminary list and may represent the Boricuas during the first window of Americas Qualifiers.

Devon Collier who couldn’t participate in official competitions due to injuries, closes out the preliminary list of the Boricuas.

“Our players are ready to accept the challenge of representing Puerto Rico, at this important moment for our country. We will fight as a team, and I am sure that we will give our best in each game. For this we need unity, to achieve our final goal which is the qualification to the FIBA Basketball World Cup," said Puerto Rico’s Head Coach Eddie Casiano.

Puerto Rico will host the United States in the CFE Arena of Orlando, Florida, on November 23, and tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

The Boricuas will then travel to Habana to face the Cubans on November 26.
