Korea youngsters flourish in win over Thailand ahead of rematch with Gilas

CLARK CITY (Philippines) - Korea dominates Thailand off the promising performance of youngsters ahead of rematch with the Philippines, 120-53.

Thailand managed to keep the game close during the first quarter, but that only seemed to buy them some time before Korea flipped the switch. As Korea started bringing in their youngsters, they were able to start attacking in the open court and expand the lead.

From the tail end of the first quarter until the majority of the second, Korea blasted away with a 31-0 run which more or less gave them the cushion that they needed to last throughout the entire game.

Coach Cho Sang Hyun was able to rest his veterans for the most part of the game, allowing the rising stars of the team to get their time to shine.

22-year-old Ha Yungi led the team with 34 points, only missing two of his attempts which included a lot of big-time throwdowns. 20-year-old Lee HyunJung continues to stuff the stat sheet, this game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. The lone teenager of the group, Yeo JunSeok, added 23 points and 6 boards.

23-year-old Yang HongSeok was the sharpshooter for Korea today with 19 points on 5 three-pointers.

Chitchai Ananti made his first Qualifiers appearance in this game for Thailand and recorded 11 points. Meanwhile, Wattana Suttisin led Thailand with 12 points.

Thailand now drops to 0-5 with one game left against Indonesia tomorrow.

Korea improves to 4-1 ahead of their rematch against the Philippines.
