The team continues to push towards a new generation of Chinese Taipei basketball, though 6 players that were on the Asia Cup 2017 squad are named including seasoned veteran Lu Cheng-Ju. The Asia Cup Qualifiers are a great opportunity for Chinese Taipei to develop this new wave of players, in hopes that they can rise to replicate the success of the past golden generation before them.

27-year-old Hu Long-Mao is among one of the brightest of the new wave and has shown promising development from Asia Cup 2017 through the World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Rising star Chen Ying-Chun also shined at the World Cup Qualifiers for Chinese Taipei and will be expected to do the same here. The 26-year-old guard will be a player to watch as he tries to qualify and get a chance to play in the Asia Cup for the first time.

Chinese Taipei will be playing both of their first games in the first window of the Asia Cup Qualifiers at home. The first game will be on 21 February against Malaysia, followed by a clash against Japan on 24 February. Both games will be played at 6:00 PM (GMT +8) in the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium.
