Budding stars get chance to shine for China in first window of FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers

BEIJING (China) - The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has formally announced a 24-player roster for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.

China's 24-player roster for FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers
Luo Haoyuan Zhou Ruiheng Zhao Baiqing Zhu Mingzhen
Chu Tianyi Wang Lanqin Zhang Zhiyao Ma Zhixuan
Ma Xinxin Li Jiaheng Yan Shouqi Wang Zhe
Xi Yimin Han Peiyu Chen Zeang Liu Zhengqi
Ma Diancheng Liu Lijia Lu Pengyu Qi Zilong
Aizimaiti Tuxun Xierzhati Saimaiti Feng Mingzhen Wang Xinrui

The upcoming games will be an opportunity for these bright young talents to shine and build on for a promising future with the national team. The pool consists of young players, all of whom have no senior national team experience. Of the players named, two are currently still high school students (Luo Haoyuan and Zhou Ruiheng) while four are still in college (Zhou Baiqing, Zhu Mingzhen, Chu Tianyi, and Wang Lanqin).

These Asia Cup Qualifiers games offer new chances for young players like those of this Chinese national team to step up and expand the pool of talented players for the national team. Hopefully down the road, these players will develop and become a whole new generation of stars for China.

Though the team is without any player of senior national team experience, the names listed have some experience excelling with the youth teams. The trio of Tuxun Aizmaiti, Xierzhati Saimaiti, and Lu Pengyu were all key pieces of the national team that played in the U17 World Cup and won silver at the U16 Asia Championship in 2018.

The CBA is aiming to increase the experience of young players in international competitions while also adding more opportunities to discover new and exciting talents to add on to their deep talent pool.
