FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers Eastern Region Groups and schedule confirmed

BEIRUT (FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers Eastern Region) - The FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers Eastern Region will serve as the final qualifying round for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 and will be going underway in Thailand from November 26th to December 1st this year. The schedule and grouping of teams for the tournament has now been confirmed.

Indonesia, the highest ranked team in tournament according to the Men’s FIBA World Rankings Presented by Nike at 97, are grouped with Malaysia (ranked 104) and Macau (ranked 148) in Group A.

Host nation Thailand (ranked 103) were drawn to Group B along with Singapore (ranked 102), Fiji (unranked), and Guam (unranked).

The first three days of the tournament will see all teams play in a single round-robin format within their respective groups. The tournament opening game on November 26th will be between Fiji and Guam. The hosts, Thailand, will then take on Singapore before the final game of the day between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Each group's top 3 teams will then advance to the second round, where they will be pitted against the teams in the opposite groups.

The teams that will qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers are the top 4 teams of the combined standings after all of the games at the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers Eastern Region are completed.

The four qualified teams from the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers Eastern Region will join Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Bahrain, and Sri Lanka (who qualified from the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers Western Region) to be among the 24 teams competing at the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.
