Saudi Arabia, India clinch Asia Cup tickets from Qualifying Tournament in Jeddah

JEDDAH (Saudi Arabia) - Saudi Arabia and India are latest teams to qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup following the results of the games in the Qualifying Tournament in Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia won both games in the Qualifying Tournament on their home-court to lock in a return to the Asia Cup for the first time since 2013.

India were able to redeem themselves after a loss with and come from behind win to beat Palestine by two points in the following game. That narrow margin was just enough to give India the advantage they needed to clinch their 10th straight appearance in the Asia Cup.

Saudi Arabia and India join Indonesia, Lebanon, Bahrain, Philippines, Korea, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Iran, Syria, Jordan and Kazakhstan to have claimed their tickets to the Asia Cup through the first ever Asia Cup Qualifiers.

This leaves just one more spot to be claimed before the 16-team playing field of the Asia Cup is completed. That final spot will be decided in Mangilao as Guam plays against Chinese Taipei in a two-game series.
