Who will stay alive between India and Syria?

BEIRUT (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - Excitement will reach fever pitch when India and Syria battle for the right to stay alive at the FIBA Asia Cup 2017.

India and Syria have had some frustrating moments in this competition, but one team will finally find redemption tonight as they clash for third place in Group A and the last berth of the Qualification for the Quarter-Finals. The Indians have been a shadow of the team that finished in the Top 8 in Changsha-Hunan two years ago, but they will have a chance to show their true potential against a Syrian squad that hasn't played for stakes this high since the FIBA Asia Championship 2011.

Key Matchup: With versatile guard and playmaker Vishesh Bhriguvanshi just not 100%, the onus has been on the trio of Amritpal Singh, Amjyot Singh and TJ Sahi to deliver, but, unfortunately, they have blown hot and cold. This may be their best chance to show their real skills, though, and it won't come at a better time. On the other end, Syria will lean on veteran Micheal Madanly and up-and-comers Omar Cheikh Ali and Tarek Al Jabi to try and stop India's speedy and athletic players. Al Jabi has been the revelation for Syria here, and if he is able to register big numbers again, the West Asian side may yet stay alive.

Key Stat: Turnovers have killed India so far in this tournament. They are the most turnover-prone team in the competition with 22.0 per game, and that's something Syria can pounce on in this matchup. Bhriguvanshi has been the most guilty with 6.0 per game, but Amjyot and TJ have done poorly as well with a combined 7.0 per contest. If India fail to cut down on there errors, Syria will certainly take advantage with their bevy of scorers who can catch fire in the blink of an eye.
