How social media reacted to Philippines upset of China

BEIRUT (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - Social media exploded with the unlikely Philippine upset of defending champions China on Day of the FIBA Asia Cup 2017.

Many of the most shared commentary came from some individuals who know a thing or two about international basketball, which includes Jordanian head coach Sam Daghlas, who was all praises for Gilas Pilipinas floor general Jayson Castro.

Castro's former teammate, Jimmy Alapag, echoed Daghlas's sentiments.

Another Filipino player, Bobby Ray Parks, Jr., who saw action in the FIBA OQT 2016, was ecstatic with the huge Philippine victory.

A Philippines fan takes a shot at Chinese player Li Gen, who was very physical in the game. Translated, the fan's caption reads like this - "Where's your bravado now? Calvin just made you cry."

The result turned some heads in Japan, too.

Veteran Filipino sportscasters Magoo Marjon and Quinito Henson could not contain their excitement.

Not surprisingly, Filipino fans were delirious and expressed their ecstasy online.

As the game wound down, Daghlas once again made waves on social media after dubbing Terrence Romeo "Big Shot."

Overall, it was a great way to start Day 2 in Beirut, and it served notice that the Philippines remain serious threat to finish on the podium even without naturalized player Andray Blatche.
