Alvark's Alex Kirk named MVP, highlights All-Star Five of FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019

BANGKOK (Thailand) - Alex Kirk was named the Most Valuable Player of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 after a dominating performance on both ends of the floor to wrap up his second appearance in the competition..

Kirk started the game on fire with 13 points in just the first quarter which set the tone for Alvark Tokyo towards win over Al Riyadi. The 27-year-old big man put up 18 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks in the historical win for his club.

The MVP had a strong showing from beginning to end, leading Alvark Tokyo to their first ever FIBA Asia Champions Cup title. Leading up to his second consecutive All-Star Five nomination, Kirk averaged 17.6 points and 9.8 rebounds on 52.9 percent shooting from the field.

Joining Kirk in the All-Star Five of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 are Wael Arakji of Riyadi, Alvark Tokyo teammate Daiki Tanaka, Hamed Haddadi of Naft Abadan, and Kevin Murphy of Muharraq.

It was herculean effort from Wael Arakji for runners-up Al Riyadi with clutch shot after clutch shot, resulting in his first time being named to the All-Star Five of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. The rising superstar averaged 24.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while also shooting a blistering 53.6 percent from the floor.

FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2018 MVP Daiki Tanaka gets named for his second consecutive All-Star Five, solidifying his status Alvark Tokyo's star. Tanaka's sharpshooting came at the right time during Alvark's championship campaign averaging 9.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.

Hamed Haddadi was a force in his return to the FIBA Asia Champions Cup with Naft Abadan, nearly finishing in the top 10 of all major statistical categories. The Iranian legend recorded 17.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 block per contest.

Finalizing the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 All-Star Five cast is Muharraq's super scorer, Kevin Murphy. The 29-year-old blasted away for 27.7 points per game, good to lead all scorers in the competition. Murphy scored more than 30 points in three straight games, lifting Muharraq to the Semi-finals.
