BANGKOK, Thailand (FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women 2016) - After losing in Saturday’s Semi-Finals. Both Korea and Chinese Taipei will battle for a place on podium of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women 2016 in Sunday’s Third-Place Game.

Korea, who beat Japan earlier in the group stages, fell hard to Japan, losing 63-41, while Chinese Taipei couldn’t handle the height and strength of China for the second straight time.

Both team met each other in Level I play earlier this week, with Korea comfortably winning, 70-38.

Park Ji Su was the star play of Korea in that game. She had 7 blocks and 18 rebounds in that game, she also scored 14 points. No less than 11 players from Korea got their names on the score-sheet that day. Chinese Taipei meanwhile struggled in that game, scoring only 38 points of which 10 were scored by Chia-Hua Wu.

In Saturday’s semi- final game against Japan, Korea were a mere shadow of the team that recorded four straight wins, falling short on all levels. They allowed their rivals to control the tempo of the game, something they’d rather not repeat against Chinese Taipei, who, despite losing by 29 points against China, managed to limit their much stronger opponents to scoring only 64 points, the lowest so far for them in the Championship.

Coach Young Min Kim will mainly rely on her superpower trio Park Ji Su, Park Jihyun and Lee Juyeon to protect the rim and to score maximum amount of points. While Coach Mei- Li Chen Will be hoping that her leaders, Hsiao- Tong Peng and Wang Jing-Ting will up their performance against the Koreans.

The winner of this game will clinch Asia’s final spot for the FIBA U19 Women’s World Championship 2017.
