Sanctions for failure to participate in the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers Window in November

MIES, Switzerland (FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers) The FIBA Disciplinary Panel on Tuesday announced a number of sanctions to the national federation of Canada for failing to participate in the second window of the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers in November 2020.

FIBA launched at the time a disciplinary proceeding and referred the matter to its Disciplinary Panel, which has now issued the following decisions for Canada Basketball:

A disciplinary fine of CHF 160,000, half of the sanction (CHF 80,000) being deferred to Canada Basketball fully complying with its participation obligation in the next FIBA official competition

A 1 (one) point deduction in the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers, deduction which is being deferred to Canada Basketball fully complying with its participation obligation in the next FIBA official competition.
