“The new players, the young players, have adapted to the coach’s game and to what we've been doing for some years now, and I believe that we won’t have any problems when the time comes to each other,” declared Héctor Hernández at the press conference.

“As always, we've been preparing ourselves for the best, to compete, to win. We’ll continue forward with the same mindset. As Coach says, we don't have the best team, but we're not going to be the object of other people’s pity. We've been preparing to compete, we believe we can win it, and with that in mind, we’ll go to try to win the whole tournament,” added Jorge Gutiérrez.

Mexico will travel to Medellin, Colombia, to play in Group A of the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 from August 25 to 27. On August 25, Puerto Rico will be the Mexicans' first rivals. They will then face Brazil and Colombia in the Group Phase.

The best team of the first phase will qualify for the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 Semi-Finals on September 2, in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. This continental tournament's Final will take place in said Argentine city on September 3.
