Canada and USA will play for FIBA U18 Americas Gold

ST CATHARINES (FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018) – Canada and USA secured spots in the Gold-Medal match of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship following victories on the Semi-Finals. Argentina and Puerto Rico will play for the last step on the podium.

USA earned the right to play for the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 Gold Medal after a 104-92 Semi-Final win over Argentina. With its long rotation, good efficiency from the field and clear dominance of the boards, USA established a 15-point lead at the half. Argentina won the third quarter and cut the lead down to 9 points during the fourth quarter, USA reacted on time and escaped to a comfortable with the same successful formula. USA took the victory, against an Argentinian team that never stopped fighting. Quentin Grimes led the way for the USA with 26 points.

The host of the FIBA u18 Americas Championship 2018 will play for continental gold following a 95-89 win over Puerto Rico. Canada captured a slight lead on the scoreboard from the get-go, and the Boricuas had to play catch-up the entire game. Led by a huge performance from Emanuel Miller, who had 31 points and 14 rebounds in the game, the Canadians escaped to a 10-point lead. Puerto Rico sent the opponent to the line and kept fighting until the last second. Canada remained calm and secured the win.

On the Reclassification Round of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship, Dominican Republic will play for 5th place following a 102-70 win over Ecuador. Chile defeated Panama 67-61 to secure a spot in the 5th place game.
