Top 5 Performances of Day 3 of the #AfroCan 2019

BAMAKO (Mali) - The battle ground now shift to the last four spots to complete the eight teams that will do battle in the Quarter-Finals of the first edition of the FIBA AfroCan as four teams booked direct tickets in the last day of the preliminary round.

The four teams to enjoy the grace of a direct Quarter-final berth are Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali and Tunisia. 

Angola defeated Morocco 68-57 to seal their spot from Group C, DR Congo had the better of Nigeria 81-55 in a Group B tie, hosts Mali saw off Cote d'Ivoire 86-63 in Group A while Tunisia edged Egypt 75-68 in Group D match-up.

Here we present to the Top 5 players who made headline for their respective countries in no particular order.

Maxi Munanga Shamba (RDC)

The 25-year-old was in great form against Nigeria which saw him pulled 18 points, 3 rebound, 7 assist and 3 steal with an efficiency judgement of 23.

The 1.90m (6ft3in) guard averaged 19.5PPG, 4RPG, 1.5SPG in 30.3 minutes per game to stay focus ahead of the quarter final pairing. 

Childe Dundao (ANG)

The young lad proved vital once again for his country when he led his nation past a star-studded Moroccan side with 18 points, 7 rebounds,  3 assists and 3 steals.

The 21-year-old point guard who featured with Angola during the FIBA Basketball African Qualifiers, average 17.5PPG, 5RPG, 4.5APG and 2.5SPG in the Bamako showdown.

Amboudou Kadirou Karaboue (CIV)

Though he was on the losing side as his country fell to hosts Mali but the 23-year-old forward gave a good account of himself with another opportunity beckoning when he will lead the Ivorian out against Kenya in the Quarter-final qualification on Tuesday. 

The 1.90m (6ft8in) led the floor in his side 86-63 points loss to Mali with 19 points and 4 rebounds and finished the preliminary round with an average of 17PPG,  5.5RPG, 2.5APG. 

 Benke Diarouma (MLI)

The 24-year-old Diarouma stood out among the Mali players on a night they needed to keep clean slate which they achieved against Cote d'Ivoire in Group A. 

The 2.06m (6ft9in) Power forward contributed 16 points and 8 rebounds to ensure his side do not need to go through the rigour of playing quarter final qualifications. 

Mohamed Rassil (TUN)

The 21-year-old forward had no choice than to step up his game when experienced Youssef Gaddour was pulled out in the third period due to slight injury but later fouled out in the fourth quarter. 

The 2.02m (6ft8in) Rassil recorded 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals against Egypt and finished the preliminary round with an average of 11PPG, 2.5RPG and 0.5APG. 

 Actions resume on Tuesday for the quarter final qualifying games as Monday will be observed as rest day for all twelve teams.
