Cote d'Ivoire name 15-man preliminary squad for FIBA AfroCan 2019

ABIDJAN (Cote d’ Ivoire) – The Federation Ivoirienne de Basketball is leaving nothing to chance in the  quest to make a big impact later this month as they have rolled out a -15-man preliminary squad ahead of the inaugural edition of the FIBA AfroCan billed for Bamako, Mali from July 19-28.

The players were drawn from five local clubs and one player plying his trade in the Algerian League.

The 15-player list includes the quartet from AZUR led by Almamy Kamara, Souleymane Kone, Marius Tra Bi  and Anselme Otto.

High flying ABC are contributing three players to the squad as Romeo Enan who represented his country during the FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers will one of the strongest men in addition to his teammates Mohamed Karaboue and Bernard Morena.

From he military-funded SOA are Marius Kouadio, Stephane Agole, Wilfried Oka and Abou Traore. Ivestp on the other hand is represented by Diarra Ismael while Sevede Ibrahim is called up from USM Blida of Algeria.

The team which opened camp in Abidjan on July 11 has Lazare Bouabre as Head Coach and have high ambitions for the maiden AfroCan, a championship which is organized for players based in Africa. However, participating teams are allowed to have two foreign players on their roster.

Teams participating in this inaugural edition are Mali, Angola, Algeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea,
Morocco, Nigeria ,Kenya,DR Congo,Chad and Tunisia.
