TUNIS (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - By beating Morocco 71-57 on Friday in Tunis, Tunisia became the seventh national team to qualify for this year’s 16-team FIBA AfroBasket in Republic of Congo.

Tunisia point guard Omar Abada made three of his four three-pointer attempts to finish with a game-high 15 points while Adil El Makssoud, the only Moroccan to score in double figures, finished with 10 points.

It was Tunisia’s third win in as many games at the FIBA Africa Zone 1 qualifiers, and the former African champions advance to the FIBA AfroBasket Final Round for the tenth time in a row.

Now, it’s up to Morocco (1-2) and Algeria (0-2) to fight for the remaining spot on offer for FIBA Africa Zone 1 teams for the Brazzaville showpiece, which will run from 19-30 August.

The two teams will face off on Saturday in Tunis.

Tunisia now join African champions Nigeria, FIBA AfroBasket 2017 hosts Republic of Congo, Egypt, Uganda, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
