What a wonderful city to host the 2021 edition of the FIBA AfroBasket!!

Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, is a city like no other.

Ranked as one of the most attractive destinations on the continent of Africa, Kigali starts to become a basketball hub in Africa.

Kigali will be the place to be/visit in August when the best 16 nations team descend to compete for the crown of the 30th edition of Africa’s premier basketball event.

All FIBA AfroBasket 2021 games will take place at the state-of-the-art Kigali Arena, a venue launched in 2019.

The 10,000-seater Kigali Arena is a multipurpose venue located near to the Amahoro National Stadium in the Rwandan capital.

The complex sits on a 28,000 square-metre piece of land, with a parking lot that can accommodate over 600 vehicles.

It has six changing rooms for the teams, one fitness centre, a dozen cafeteria and restaurants, a media hall and a modern doping control room.

In its first major basketball event in August 2019, a sold-out crowd witnessed Game 1 of the Rwandan League Playoffs between the eventual champions Patriots vs REG.

The Kigali Arena was named home to the the rescheduled 12-team 2020 Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Kigali is Rwanda’s rapidly growing capital city and most important business centre in the country.

Founded in 1907 as a small colonial outpost with limited linkage to the outside world, it has today grown into a modern metropolis - the heart of the emerging Rwandan economy and the fastest and cleanest capital city in the continent of Africa.

Kigali is a great place to begin or end any Rwanda journey as it's conveniently located in the geographic centre of the country.
