VISA INFORMATION

Visitors to Egypt must obtain a visa from one of the Egyptian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries that are eligible for visa on arrival. Visitors must hold passports that are valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival to Egypt.
Visas for Egypt can be obtained from Egyptian Diplomatic and Consular abroad.

CAIRO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Cairo International Airport is located approximately 17 km (10.6 miles) north-east of downtown Cairo. In 2009, the airport turned approximately 14.4 million passengers around. The airport has three passenger terminals and two runways, with a third currently under construction. Once the expansion effort is completed, the airport’s annual capacity will be almost doubled to 22 million passengers.

TRANSPORTATION

The LOC shall provide local transportation by means of cars and buses, for Team Delegations, FIBA Africa Officiating Team, FIBA Africa Staff and Representatives, and Accredited Media (if applicable). All means of transport will be clean of high quality equipped with air conditioning system and branded in line with FIBA Brand Identity with skilled and experienced drivers. All drivers will have on-the-dot time schedule and always reachable through official mobile line. All means of transport will have insurance umbrella.

SECURITY

Spectators will sit only in their ticketed seats and show their tickets when requested. Spectators who engage in behavior that is reckless, dangerous, disruptive, or illegal in nature, including but not limited to fighting, throwing objects or attempting to enter the court will be immediately removed from the arena. Indecent messages including foul, sexist, racial, obscene or abusive language or gestures on signs or clothing will not be permitted. They will comply with requests from the security team regarding venue operations and emergency response procedures.

The venue staff will be trained to intervene when necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met, and guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest usher, security guard, or guest services staff member.

The Egyptian Basketball Federation EBBF, the host Federation, the Egyptian government, and the host venues are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable sports and entertainment experience. EBBF, LOC, Venues, and Ministry of Interior MOI will work to develop security overlay to ensure a safe and secure environment for participants, officials, and spectators in competition and non-competition venues prior to and during the championship.

A task force from LOC, Homeland Security, and MOI will be composed to manage the security, traffic, and safeguarding of the public during the event. Guests will be treated in a consistent, professional, and courteous manner by all venues and LOC personnel. Guests will enjoy the sporting experience free from disruptive behavior and will be treated with dignity and respect.
