Exciting Semi-Final lineup for FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2019 revealed

CAIRO (Egypt) - And then they were four. Following end-to-end action on Wednesday in the Quarter-Finals, the four teams that will contest for the only two available slots in the prestigious FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2019 Final on December 14 have been confirmed.

A day that did not lack a shortage of individual and team highlights aplenty summarized why we breath, eat and live basketball.

From the display of class and experience from Ferroviario de Maputo's center Pauline Akonga to Astou Traore's magic in and outside the paint, Sarah Ogoke's genius to Asrar Bakr's shooting prowess, it has been a great day for the fans in the stands and those following across the world via television and digital platforms.

Ferroviario de Maputo vs Sporting

Akonga was in fine form

The reigning champions unleashed Akonga who scored a quick 12 points in the first quarter to announce her arrival at the tournament after missing out on the Group Phase. She recorded a note-worthy double double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals.

They take on Sporting who themselves overcame a first quarter panic attack to grind a 86-42 over a stubborn CNSS side. Three players scored double digits led by Asrar Bakr with 25 points while Shawnta Dyer and Hagar Amer netted 23 and 14 points in that order to help Sporting book a place in the Semi-Finals.                                                                      Bakr was immense for Sporting Alexandria

Backed by their fans, Sporting launched a fighting spirit that will come in handy when they take on Ferroviario de Maputo in a much anticipated Semi-Final tie.

InterClube vs Al Ahly

Astou Traore scored 28 points and picked eight rebounds

In search of their first title since 2016, InterClube are on track to achieving their objective. They have been consistent so far - winning four out of four games played and doing so in an effective way. They now need to overcome the Al Ahly hurdle in the semi-final to get closer to their aim.

Against FAP from Cameroon, they were caught off guard in the first quarter when the latter put up a decent fight to trail 33-28 at the half time mark.

InterClube head coach Apolinario Paquete changed their approach to defense in the third quarter and they picked 13 defensive rebounds and forced FAP to make five turnovers and the conversions on the other end of the court saw them establish a comfortable 24-point lead going into the last quarter.

Shooting guard Astou Traore scored 28 points and picked nine rebounds while point guard Italee Lucas contributed 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

FAP point guard Alexandra Green registered 17 points while Apolonia Thomas added 14 point and nine rebounds but their efforts were not enough to help the army and police side to pick their first tournament victory and instead extended their losing streak to four games much to their dissatisfaction.

On the other hand, four Al Ahly players put up double digits on the offense board led by point guard Kelsey Mitchell who has been a beauty to watch all tournament.  Her 14 points on a low scoring night for her alongside Manar Youssef's 12 points were enough to help Al Ahly made the Semi-Final field.

Nouralla Abdelalim and Schaquilla Nunn combined for 21 points and 17 rebounds.
