Young, talented and ambitious, InterClube head to FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017 set to make some noise

LUANDA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup) - In their first FIBA Africa Champions (ACC) appearance since 2005, InterCube are expecting to count on a number of Angola rising stars.

Head coach Alberto Babo has selected Gerson Domingos (21), Alexandre Jungo (20) and Jonatao Ndjungu (19) - a trio often described as future key members of the Angolan national team.

They will be joined by 24-year-old Fidel Cabita, a talented forward, who was part of Angola's preliminary squad for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers.

Following a runner-up finish at FIBA ACC Zone 6 Qualifier in Botswana, the
Angola Police-funded club "are going to plan one game at a time in order to achieve a successful campaign," according to Babo.

They look to improve or maintain their ACC runner-up finish in 2005.

"We have scouted our opponents, and I am confident my players will respond accordingly," the Portuguese play-caller added.

This year's ACC is scheduled to take place in Rades, Tunisia, from December 11-20.

This is the ACC 2017 lineup: Etoile Sportive Rades (Tunisia), Kano Pillars (Nigeria), Gome Bulls (Nigeria), AS Mazembe (Democratic Republic of Congo), New Generation (DR Congo), City Oilers (Uganda), InterClube de Luanda (Angola), Sport Libolo e Benfica (Angola), Ferroviario da Beira* (Mozambique), Union Sportive Monastirienne* (Tunisia), Association Sportive Sale (Morocco) and Groupement Sportive Petroliers (Algeria).
