LOBATSE (FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017) - The race for Southern Africa clubs for two tickets for the FIBA Africa Champions Cup (ACC) 2017 Finals began on Friday in Lobatse, Botswana, with Dolphins, Libolo and Ferroviario da Beira registering wins.

The FIBA Africa Zone 6 qualifier is set to run until Thursday October 26 in Gaborone.  

This year's ACC Final Round will take place in Rades, on the outskirts of the Tunisian capital of Tunis, from December 8-17.

The seven-team regional qualifiers opened with last year's ACC finalists Libolo of Angola outclassing Zimbabwean outfit Harare City Hornets 98-54.

Local fans packed Lobatse Sports Arena to witness a local derby between Dolphins and Troopers with the former prevailing 78-60.

In the last game of the day played at University of Botswana Sports Indoor Arena in the capital Gaborone, Mozambique champions Ferroviario da Beira defeated arch-rivals Ferroviario de Maputo 91-84.

Although most games were played in Day 1, the remainder of the tournament will now resume in the capital Gaborone.

Saturday's fixtures: Harare City v Troopers; Dolphins vs Libolo.
