Quarter-Finals field set at FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017

RADES (FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017) – The FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017 Quarter-Final field is set following the conclusion of Group phase on Saturday.

Teams qualified for the Quarter-Finals include: Association Sportif Sale, Etoile Sportive Rades, InterClube, City Oilers, Union Sportive Monastirienne, Sport Libolo e Benfica, Groupment Sportif Petroliers and Ferroviario da Beira.

Ugandan side City Oilers earned the remaining slot in Group A thanks to a 95-86 victory over Nigerian Champions Kano Pillars.

Nigeria international Abubakar Usman finished with a game-high 27 point, and his fellow Nigerian Abdoul Yahaya added 16 points and 13 rebounds in their losing efforts.

On the other hand, Uganda international Robinson Opong ignited the Eastern Africans with a team-best 21 points and 5 rebounds to help The Oilers qualify for the ACC Quarter-Finals for the first time ever.

The Kampala-based side will face off title contender and tournament favorite US Monastir of Tunisia in the knock-out stage.

The Tunisian side sealed a 94-83 in the North African derby against GS Petroliers to extend their winning streak to 5-0. 

Point guard Kyle Vinales recorded game-high 26 points while his teammates Evariste Shonganya, Firas Lahiani and Nizar Knioua combined for 53 points

Hosts Etoile Sportive Rades handed InterClube of Angola their second defeat by 65-52 in Group A to finish second behind Association Sportive Sale of Morocco.

Kelvin Mathew and Omar Abada poured in 17 points apiece while Zied Chennoufi added 13 points on the winning side.

In the Group B's last game of the day, Sport Libolo e Benfica overcame Ferroviario da Beira of Mozambique 86-67 points to claim a Second-Place finish in the group.

Libolo point guard Jekel Foster poured in 21 points. Andre Harris recorded 13 points while youthful forward Quinha Bastos added 12 points.

Earlier in the day, ASB Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo secured their sole victory as they outscored Nigerian side Gombe Bulls 67-47.

Mazembe duo of Rolly Fula and Pitchou Kambuy were huge for the Congolese, combining for 36 points. They finished the Group Phase in the Fifth-Place ahead of the Nigerian side who handed Sport Libolo e Benfica, in a surprise outcome on Friday.

Saturday's ACC action was full emotion as, against all the odds, DR Congo champions New Generation shocked Association sportive Sale of Morocco 89-80 in Group A.

The Moroccan side who secured their Quarter-Final slot on Friday rested most of their key players.

Sunday will be a rest day for all the twelve teams. Action resume on Monday with the Quarter-Finals and classification 9-12 place games.
