Haidara and Elalfy are superstars of the U18 Women's African tournament

 

ANTSIRABE (Madagascar) The group stages have come to an end on Day 4 of the FIBA U18 Women's African Championship. The games saw the likes of Mali's Maimouna Haidara and Egypt's Jana Elalfy confirm themselves as tournament superstars.

Here is look at the players who took the limelight on Day 4:

DOUA YAHIAOUI (Algeria)

Yahiaoui has been a bright star of Algeria, despite the team having poor start to the competition. Her ability command the offence against Uganda in the final game of Group came to the fore as she led her team to a memorable victory.

MAIMOUNA HAIDARA (Mali)

Haidara cemented herself as the bedrock of this Mali team. Another double-double (28 points and 12 rebounds) for the forward, capped a memorable group stage for Spain-based player.

REHEMA MHINA (Tanzania)

Mhina played a crucial role in Tanzania claiming the first tournament win. The guard dropped 16 points and one hopes she'll grow in confidence in the knock-out stages

JANA ELALFY (Egypt)

After sitting most of the game due to foul trouble in the first quarter, Elalfy lifted her game in the fourth quarter to score 14 points, which contributed to her total of 17 and crashed 11 boards against Angola.
