Overview

The FIBA U16 Women’s African Championship is a youth team’s tournament of the International Basketball Federation’s African Region.
The inaugural edition of this 12-team championship took place from August 30 to September 5, 2009 in Malian capital city of Bamako.
To date, Mali is the lone crowned in the event, with 4 trophies in as many editions.
The tournament is run every two years and brings together the best African young players and serve as a qualifier for the FIBA U17 World Championship.
This year, the competition will take place from August 4-12 in Mozambique.
The winner and the runners-up will punch their tickets for the FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship 2018.
