Overview

The FIBA U16 African Championship is a youth team’s tournament of the International Basketball Federation’s African Region.
The inaugural edition of this 12-team championship took place from September 18-26, 2009 in Maputo, Mozambique.
To date, Egypt has won the most titles, triumphing 3 times in 4 editions. Angola follow with 1 title.

The tournament is run every two years and brings together the best African young players.

This year, the competition will take place from July 13-22, in Vacoas-phoenix in Mauritius and will serve as a qualifier for the FIBA U17 World Championship 2018.
The winner and the runners-up will punch their tickets for the event which will be hosted by the Argentinian cities of Rosario and Santa Fe.
