Participating Teams

Competition System

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups of 4 teams each. The tournament begins with a Group Phase played in a round robin format, with each team taking on the other 3 in its pool. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Final Phase (Semi-Finals, Finals) played in a knockout format.

The City of Vacoas - Phoenix, located around 15 kilometers to Port Louis, the Capital of  Mauritius will host from 13 - 22 July  the fifth edition of the FIBA U16  African Championship 2017. 12 national teams of under sixteen cluding the defending champion, Egypt will play at this competition and the two top teams will be qualified for the FIBA U17  Basketball World Cup 2018.
