Italy shine in FIBA 3x3 Nations League 2022 Tel Aviv Stops

TEL AVIV (Israel) – Italy rank first in the women’s and second in the men’s category after three stops of the Europe (South) conference at the FIBA 3x3 Nations League 2022.

The Italian women won the second stop and finished 2nd and 3rd in the other two stops, while the men started with a disappointing 4th place before reaching 2nd and 1st place in the last two stops.

23-year-old Azzurro Michele Serpilli led the scoring charts in the men’s category with 48 points in 9 games. Turkey 22-year-old star İlayda Güner topped the event in scoring in the women’s category with 49 points in just 6 games. She made 16 free throws in the competition, more than double the freebies made by the second best.

With 3 stops to go, the race to the Constanta Final is wide open. Five different teams won a stop in Tel Aviv (Turkey’s women were the only team to win two stops, Romania’s men and Israel’s men were the other stop winners). Speaking of Israel, they’re the current leaders in the men’s category.

The next 3 stops will take place in Bucharest, Romania on August 5-7. The conference winners in both categories will make it to the Nations League Final, which will take place in Constanta, Romania on September 14-16, 2022.

The Nations League comes back on June 14-16 with the U21 Europe (East) Conference in Kaunas, Lithuania.
