LOME(FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2018) – Underdogs Togo shocked themselves and gave their fans plenty to cheer as they booked a ticket in the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2018.

The Togo women backed by their vociferous fans defeated Burkina Faso 17-6 and went on to stop Niger (16-7).

 FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2017 runner-upsNigeria pulled a 17-12 win over Benin in their first game even as  Aishatou Kondoh battled to help his team make a come back but Nkechi Akashili and Nkem Akariewe were too hot to handle.

Aishatou told Fiba.basketball that her team is just full of excitement. “We’re happy to make it here and pick a win over Egypt but there are other big teams. We hope to learn from the big teams and get better as we progress.”

Nigeria then defeated Egypt 20-18 in Pool B to book a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Tomorrow, defending women's champions Mali begin her campaign in Pool C against Democratic Republic of Congo while Uganda faces Cape Verde in Pool A.
